LTL Shipments
Heavy, oversized or items considered HAZMAT (ie Flooded Cell Batteries) are only shippable via LTL (Less Than Trailerload) Truck Freight. We ship via T-Force Freight or FedEx Freight.
When choosing an LTL shipping method, be sure to pick the correct one for your delivery location:
- Businesses are assumed to be in a an area zoned as commercial and also to have a loading dock, forklift or other means to remove the shipment. If you do not have a forklift or loading dock, please specify "Liftgate required" in the comments section. We will contact you prior to shipment to obtain payment for the liftgate service which is an additional charge.
- Residential is any delivery address that is zoned Residential or Agricultural (including home businesses and farms). For these deliveries you must choose the Residential rate. LTL charges a different rate, with a residential surcharge and an additional charge for liftgate service. These are included in the residential price you see.
- Areas that have restricted access, including military bases, ports, terminals, quarries, scheduled access areas, etc. will incur an additional "Limited Access Fee" that LTL carriers require. Please specify "Limited Access Fee Required" in the comments section. We will contact you prior to shipment to obtain payment for the service fee.
Important Information Regarding Freight Shipments:
Truck freight may require an additional 1-2 days handling time due to the nature of the LTL industry and carrier pickup schedules. While most Gray products are shipped with Free Shipping, the additional services listed above are not covered. While you are required to select residential and liftgate for these items at purchase, if you choose "no" yet these services are required we will contact you to obtain payment for these services prior to shipping. Additionally, if the "limited access fee" applies to your location, please specify that as well.
What to do upon delivery:
Be sure to inspect deliveries for any damage PRIOR to signing the Bill of Lading. If the item is damaged, note it on the BOL and notify the driver. Take pictures if possible. If the item is damaged beyond use, do not sign the BOL. Note the damage on it and please refuse the shipment and notify us immediately.
FINAL NOTE: Please read the entire page above. We are not responsible for mistakes in services chosen. To reiterate, even if operating a business from a garage behind a home, or a farm in certain areas, your city/jurisdiction zone may be considered residential. Please be sure to select the correct option. Being a business does not automatically make it commercial. If the delivery property is zoned as residential, the delivery companies also consider it as such. Please select the correct zone as incorrect information could delay or prevent delivery as well as accrue additional charges.
