What is a Cummins NOx Sensor?
Cummins engines have 1 NOx sensor on either side of the SCR to measure NOx in the exhaust! The inlet/ upstream sensor monitors NOx levels before the SCR, so the ECU knows how much DEF to inject. The outlet/ downstream NOx sensor registers the NOx levels in the exhaust after it passes through the SCR. The ECU uses this comparative data to ensure the SCR is working and is receiving enough DEF.
